A nurse with a vision!
After 14 years of coordinating volunteer medical and dental mission teams to Honduras, in 2001 Ms. Peggy relocated to the island of Roatan. Being acutely aware of the critical need for quality health services, she began her journey to improve the healthcare of her surrounding community and Clinica Esperanza was born.

“LA COLONIA”, SANDY BAY
Our neighbors are some of the poorest in roatan!
In 1998 Hurricane Mitch destroyed many homes and lives on the mainland and thousands of Hondurans chose to relocate to Roatan and what began, as a squatters village became “La Colonia”.

All our paid staff members are honduran.
Ms. Peggy´s vision for Clinica Esperanza was to create a clinic that would provide quality healthcare to our community by Honduran nationals.

Clinica Esperanza is improving the standard of care for our patients through our adult, pediatric, dental, women’s health, laboratory and pharmacy services.

Clinica Esperanza Roatan, My Second Home!
How I started this Journey
Through medication, monitoring, and education our diabetic patients are improving their glucose levels and their overall health.
As part of our community outreach we are teaching women in communities how to identify the health needs of their neighbors.
Our classes teach expectant mothers how to better care for themselves and their babies.
Our pediatric clinic welcomes the medical student and medical volunteer to assist our staff in caring for our patients, while increasing their knowledge and experience in providing care in a limited resource setting like Roatan.
Clinica Esperanza Roatan is a community health association clinic that receives funding from Bay Islands Community Healthcare Association as well as Bridge320, Inc, both of which are US approved 501(c)(3) organizations. Donations are eligible for tax deduction in the US when they are made through one of these organizations.
